Zephyrosaurus

Name means: “Zephyr’s lizard”
Pronounced: ZEF-i-ro-SAWR-us
Length: 6 ft (1.8 m)
Time: Middle Cretaceous, 119 – 113 mya
Place: Montana
Named in 1980 for the mythical god of the west wind, Zephyrosaurus
was a member of the two-legged, plant-eating hypsilophodontids. Like
other members of that dinosaur group, this was a small, lightly-built
animal with a short beak and large eyes.
Zigongosaurus
Name means: “Zigong lizard”
Pronounced: DZUH-GUNG-o-SAWR-us
This is now known to be OMEISAURUS.
Zizhongosaurus
Taxon: Sauropoda
Name means: “Zizhong lizard”
Pronounced: DZUH-JUNG-o-SAWR-us
Length: 30 ft (9 m)
Time: Early Jurassic, 208 – 188 mya
Place: China
Named in 1983 for Zizhong County in China where it was excavated, Zizhongosaurus
was a small, primitive member of the long-necked, plant-eating sauropods.
Zuniceratops
Taxon: Ceratopsia
Name means: “Zuni horned face”
Pronounced: ZOO-nee-SER-uh-tops
Length: 10 – 11.5 ft (3 – 3.5 m)
Time: Late Cretaceous, c. 92 mya
Place: New Mexico
Zuniceratops was a small, primitive ceratopsian with some protoceratopsian
characteristics. Its frilled and beaked skull is notable for featuring
unexpectedly large horns above the eyes, making this the earliest ceratopsian
for which brow horns are known. The four-legged, plant-eating dinosaur
was named in 1998 for the Zuni tribe of North America.
